One Lap Around is a solo motorcycle adventure around the world—following remote routes, dirt roads, and wild places while tracking the experiences that matter to me along the way.
WHAT DRIVES YOU?
One Lap Around exists for one simple reason: I’ve always wanted to see the world. Ever since I was a kid, the idea of distant places, high peaks, unfamiliar landscapes, and finding out what was around the next corner never really went away.
Over the years, I chased that question in different ways—through long trails, big bicycle trips, and ambitious adventures. They were great experiences, but none of them fully answered the need to keep going and see more of the world.
I chose my 2025 Yamaha Tenere 700, named Donkey, as my way of moving through the world because it removes the barrier between me and the places I’m riding through. You’re not sealed off—you feel the wind, notice the weather, smell your surroundings, and experience places as you pass through them. It’s a more direct way to travel, and it’s how I want to do this trip.

What are the Adventure Travel Counts?
The numbers below are how I track what matters to me. I’m a list maker, and keeping counts gives my travels structure—a way to organize experiences that might otherwise blur together.
Countries visited, fish caught on a fly rod, disc golf courses played, birds seen, and more are ways of capturing moments as they happen and remembering them later. Many of these started as intangible ideas—lists that existed only in my head—but turning them into something trackable gives them shape, whether that’s paying closer attention or giving my direction.
I do love stats. These counts are data I keep for myself—records tied to specific moments and the memories that come with them. They represent the passions I don’t want to put on hold while traveling, and in some cases they influence where I go. There’s a full page dedicated to tracking them and other things I find interesting or thought it would be fun to track during this adventure.
COUNTRIES
Seeing the world is the main goal of this project. So it’s only natural that one would count the countries visited.
BIRDS SEEN
Birding has been part of my life for a long time. New species are part of the adventure.
FISH CAUGHT
Fishing has been with me since childhood. Rivers, streams, and the chance to cast a fly shape where I go.
DISC GOLF
Disc golf is something I’ve always made time for. New courses add another layer to the journey.

I’m excited to use TravelMap to share both the plan and the reality of this trip. Before I leave, the map will shows the places I’m aiming for and why they matter. Once the trip starts, I’ll reset the map (and upgrade my subscription where I will be able to change the map style and more). I will plot my route on the map where I actually go—along with photos, videos, and short notes tied to each stop.
It’s the simplest way to see where we are, where we’ve been, and how the route evolves along the way.
